Jeremiah 17:5 - "Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord."  A song this weekend "My God is bigger than any problems" made me wonder how many times I trust in myself or others to get through trials, make big decisions, etc.  Let's go straight to the One that can help us with all things. - Jason Barrett

Colossians 3:14 - "And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness." To be the best husband to my wife, the best father to my children,  and the best servant for Jesus, I  must do everything with a love for others as Christ loves them. Without that love, I don't have the heart of Christ, and I will never be complete in anything I do. Please pray for me as I pray for you that we will be men who display the love of Christ to others.  - Jason Myers

1 Samuel 15:11 - "It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the Lord all night." What a powerful verse! We're either for God, or against God. When we sin and disobey God, it not only dishonors and hurts Him, but it hurts others as well. When Saul turned away from the Lord, it hurt both God and Samuel. It hurt Samuel to the point that he cried all night in prayer. On the other hand, Samuel was so close to God that he shared the same heartbreak with Him. Are we like Saul causing God sorrow, or are we like Samuel with the heart of God and praying for those who are stumbling in sin? - Garrett Longest

Matthew 7: 24-27 - “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.  And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”  The world tries everything in attempts to make their lives useful and tolerant of others. My grandchildren love to collect rocks. God states that when we abide in Christ, hear, digest and do what his Word instructs us to do than we are building our home and family on the true ROCK, Jesus Christ. As parents and grandparents, we need to always keep Christ as our ROCK for our family and lives no matter what storms may happen.  - Clifford Myers

Proverbs 12:11 -"He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding."  I like this verse partially because I have a large garden and God gives us a lot of good things from it.  I also see it to mean that if we teach our children about Jesus and what's right, we will see the fruits of our labor if their lives.  - Phil Dann

Numbers 15:39 - "...that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the Lord, and do them;..." Israel did not have the written Word of God to read everyday like we do.  This chapter follows the story of the 12 spies and an incident of a man being stoned for gathering wood on the sabbath. God wanted the blue fringe in v38 to remind people throughout each day of His commandments. Praise God for the written reminder we can all hold in our hands. Were you reminded today? - Matthew Stephens

Joshua 7:25b-26a:  "And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire ... So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger." Achan's sin resulted in his death and the death of his children. From Genesis to Revelation, we see God's paradigm of sin and punishment. Cain, David, Eli & his sons, Ananias & Sapphira; example after example. "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten," Jesus warns. All this is written so that we will not sin because we fear God. It's terrible that so often Christians gloss over this truth, even to the point of redefining words (we've all heard or read that "fear" of God just means "respect"). When I consider how God punishes and scourges his disobedient children, I don't merely respect or reverence Him. I am afraid of the pain of punishment; in other words, I fear Him. So should you. - Daniel Holser

Ecclesiastes 5:7 - "For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God." There is so much emphasis put on the American Dream and being successful. Dreams and plans we have for tomorrow, next week, next year, 5 years from now. There is nothing wrong with dreaming and planning, but The Preacher cuts straight to the chase in this verse, and says there is 1 sure path to true success,"Fear thou GOD" How are we doing on this scale of true success? - Brian Boots

Joshua 7:13- "Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the Lord God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.” We need to make sure that we don't have sin in our lives, for it could be stopping our families, church, and even country from winning the battle. Let us be sanctified for His purpose. - Josh Gross

Genesis 1:1 - "In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth." I am in the woods with Sam this morning, and we have seen God's creation  and have been amazed with what God has created here on earth so I can only imagine what he has created for us in Heaven" -

Psalm 39:7 - "And now Lord what wait I for? My hope is in Thee." David realized how frail he was.  Until we get to a place where we see ourselves and then look up and see the Master and Creator of the universe we will struggle with understanding where our hope comes from.  We can hope in the One Who never changes and Who will never leave us nor forsake us. - Jason Brothers

Matthew 12:36 - "But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement." What a powerful statement. I couldn't even guess how many idle words I've uttered in my lifetime. We need to make sure we are very careful with our words because we will answer to God for them. - Steve Boots

2 Chronicles 29:3 & 17a - "He (Hezekiah) in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the LORD, and repaired them . . . Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify . . ."  Hezekiah started making spiritual changes the day he became king. Don't put off making spiritual decisions for you and your family. Start today.

2 Corinthians 4:17 (or two Corinthians per Donald Trump...haha) - "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;"  No matter what light afflictions we suffer for following Jesus (mocking/jokes from co-workers, harsh words from some you witness to, constant questions about how we act or why we don't do certain things), it pales in comparison to what He went through for us and the glory that's waiting for us!  Let's keep looking for opportunities to share with others the same joys we look forward to. - Jason Barrett

Proverbs 4:18 - "But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day." Continue to be faithful in daily doing what is right and the Lord will lead you where He wants you and your family.  Remember the words of Abraham's servant "I being in the way,  the Lord led me ..." (Genesis 24:27). - Jason Myers

Genesis 40:6  - "And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad." After everything that Joseph has gone through, and then being thrown in prison, he still noticed and cared for others. Pastor has said several times that we won't be depressed if we stay busy and serve. Joseph didn't focus on his own circumstances or blamed anyone for his situations, but always stayed faithful to God and served. Remember the acronym for JOY: Jesus, Others, and then You. - Garrett Longest

Acts 17:10-11 - “And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”  These verses remind us to receive, study and search the scriptures daily in a willing and ready mindset.  II Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”  Let’s remember to take time to daily read, study, mediate and apply God’s Word as the Berean Christians did.  - Clifford Myers

Numbers 22:18 - "And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the Lord my God, to do less or more." Balaam stood firm as Balak's servants offered him great honor and anything he wanted IF he would curse the people. It's a difficult thing to resist when Satan puts temptation close to your heart in reach.  In the next verses, Balaam doesn't follow God's leading.  May we daily pray for wisdom to withstand the temptations set before us. - Phil Dann

Hebrews 9:27 warns, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." I was talking with a co-worker this week who grew up in church, but says he believes in reincarnation. A rebirth to experience the pain you have caused others. He is blind to the coming judgment that awaits this world.  Often times it is not enough to witness to co-workers. We must pray that the heart would be ready and it could be that we are the ones God would use to labor in the soil so others may reap the harvest. Our job is both to sow and reap, but trust God for the increase. - Matt Stephens

In Mark 16:6, an angel tells the women, "Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth..." I stopped there and thought, "I do, too." It is Jesus that I have sought all my life.  He is the One that I have needed. Let's not waste any more time looking for life and love in something or someone else, but turn our hearts to Him. Jesus, lover of my soul. - Daniel Holser

Proverbs 20:4 - "The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing." This verse is mostly used to talk about the importance of hard work, but there is very much a spiritual application here also. We've heard several messages recently about our job as Christians to win souls, but it is so easy to come up with excuses for not doing it. Let's be looking for opportunities to work for Christ, instead of looking for excuses to get out of it. It would be a shame to stand before God at judgement(harvest) with nothing to show for the life He gave us. - Brian Boots

2 Timothy 3:5 - "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." There are many "Christians" today that look and act the part, but are not plugged into the power source of the Lord. I pray that we are not as those who do not have a true relationship with God, but one that can pray and talk with our savior like a son.  May we not forget the power that is available to the sons of God. - Josh Gross.
